Design Factors
Drive Loss
Drive Loss accounts for the power required to operate the drive components (belts and pulleys). The program accounts for this loss based on information from AMCA Publication 203-90 ‘Estimated Belt Drive Loss’. This calculated drive loss is added to the required fan power to obtain the actual operating power required. The Medium range is the default and is suitable for most applications, however the Low range may be more appropriate for low speed applications and the High range for higher speed applications or where a more conservative value is desired. For belt drive fans, motor selections will not be allowed in the service factor unless drive loss has been included.

Selection Constraints
Controls if selections are allowed to the left of the ‘Do not select curve’. Selecting ‘Relax’ will allow selections that may result in unstable operation and should only be used for demonstration purposes and to verify undesirable operation. It is not recommended for normal use. Operation under these conditions can have wide variations in flow as well as excessive vibration and noise. This option does not relax the normal Flow, Pressure, Power, Revolutions, Temperature or Class limits of the fan.

Motor Service Factor
Controls the maximum allowable motor loading. Entering 1.0 allows selections up to the full motor rating. Values above 1.0 allow selections in the motor service factor.
